On December 2, 2006 the Civil G8 final conference “Delivering the 2006 G8 agenda” was held in Moscow. The meeting was organized as an enlarged session of Advisory Council of the “Civil G8-2006” project. It was attended by reputable NGO leaders, who have made the most valuable contribution to the Civil G8 this year. President of Progressive Youth Union Alexander Andreev attended the conference on the invitation of Civil G8 Coordinator Ella Pamfilova.

The Civil G8 project was launched in 2006 under the Russian presidency in G8, the influential political organization uniting Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Russia, United Kingdom and United States, being together the 65% of the world's economy. The Civil G8 has become the platform for numerous forums and consultations of leading world civil society organizations (CSOs) aimed at discussion of global problems and making recommendations and suggestions for the G8 summit and the leaders of the G8 states.  On 3-4 July the Civil G8 International Forum of NGOs was held in Moscow, resulting in recommendations for the meeting of the heads of G8 countries in St.Petersburg in July 2006 on the following issues: "GMO – One of the Challenges of the XXI century", "Business and Society: mechanisms of interaction", "Infectious Diseases", "Global Security and Interests of the Society", "Energy Security", "Education", "Biological diversity: urgent need for enhancing international cooperation", "Human rights", "Strengthening Global Social and Economic Policies for Sustainable Human Development". The final recommendations were also presented for President of G8 in 2006, President of Russia Vladimir Putin. In tolal, about 2000 civil society organizations took part in Civil G8-2006.

The final conference of Civil G8 in 2006 “Delivering the 2006 G8 agenda” was held in Moscow on December 2, 2006. The meeting was attended by leading world and Russian NGOs, who have made the most valuable contribution to the Civil G8 this year and took part in the G8 summit in St.Petersburg. The aim of the meeting was to present NGOs suggestions to Sherpas on how to develop cooperation between the G8 and civil society in 2007, as well as to monitor implementation of commitments made at the previous G8 summits, discuss cooperation between CSOs and the G8 under Russian presidency, and perspectives of the cooperation under Germany G8 presidency. President of Progressive Youth Union Alexander Andreev attended the conference on the invitation of Civil G8 Coordinator and Head of RF Presidential  Council on Civil Society Institutions Development and Human Rights Ella Pamfilova. According to John Kirton, Director of the G8 Research Group of the University of Toronto, "the Civil G8-2006 has determined unexampled high standards for future summits. The voice of the civil society was finally heard”. Alexander Andreev in his speech noted that Civil G8 has become a huge success transforming into the influential international organization, and that this format should be preserved. The Union leader suggested to Mona Bricke and Regina Gunter, Coordinators of G8-2007 NGO Platform under the German presidency, that "participation of world NGOs in the 2007 G8 summit could be widened so as not to make the civil society role marginal, and that more youth organizations could possibly take part in discussion of such issues as professional education, global social and economic policy, infectious deseases".

"Civil G8 IS THE OPPORTUNITY TO DISCUSS GLOBAL PROBLEMS FOR EVERYONE"

On 3-4 July International Forum of Nongovernmental Organisations "Civil G8", in which the President of Russia Vladimir Putin took part, was held in Moscow. President of the Progressive Youth Union Alexander Andreev became the only NGO representative from Samara Region.

On 3-4 July International Forum of Nongovernmental Organisations "Civil G8" was held in Moscow in the World Trade Centre in view of the upcoming G8 summit in Saint-Petersburg on 15-17 July under the Russian presidency. The heads of the leading world NGOs such as Human Rights Watch, Chatham House, Amnesty International, Oxfam International, the NGOs of G8 countries (Russia, UK, USA, Canada, France, Italy, Germany, Japan) took part in Civil G8. The forum was aimed at discussing problems of interest for the world community and preparing proposals which could be taken into account while forming subsequent agendas of the following G8 summits. The forum participants discussed such urgent global issues as global energy security, professional education, combating spread of HIV/AIDS, global social and economic policies for sustainable development, human rights, global security and interests of society, contemporary ecology problems and nuclear safety, business and society. The formulation of proposals was made as roundtable discussions on the issues. The final recommendations were spoken to the President of Russia, the G8 President Vladimir Putin, who took part in Civil G8 and assured that all the proposals would be taken into account and he would stress the main ideas at the G8 Summit in Saint-Petersburg. On the invitation of Civil G8 National Coordinator Ella Pamfilova the President of the Progressive Youth Union Alexander Andreev took part in the work of Civil G8, becoming the only NGO representative from Samara Region.

«The issues discussed at Civil G8 are really significant for every human being on the planet, even in Samara Region. I believe the work of Civil G8 proved to be not just declarative and its results should be really felt. I am glad that on July 4 I had the opportunity to work at one table with the G8 President and the President of Russia Vladimir Putin, who, along with the leading world NGOs heads, guaranteed the highest level of discussion of the issues we worked on, what enables me to hope that the proposals will be dealt with in a practical manner. In general, I believe that Civil G8 is a great achievement in the dialogue between the civic society and the governments on the global level", - stated the President of the Progressive Youth Union Alexander Andreev.
